Harvest Brae Farm began in 2018 with the purchase of nine acres of permanent grassland that had been previously used for grazing sheep for many years.
For some time, there had been a desire to create both a home and a working landscape, a place that could support a livelihood rooted in growing, biodiversity and long-term stewardship.
Establishing orchard planting, cider production and the nursery formed part of a wider vision for the land.
What was once a single-use pasture is gradually being reshaped into a diverse and productive smallholding. Orchard rows now sit alongside mixed planting, polytunnel growing space and areas managed to encourage wildlife.
The shift has not been dramatic or instant. It is ongoing. Each season adds structure, habitat and variety.
Where there was once uniform grass, there is now increasing diversity, in plant life, in pollinators and in the wider ecology of the land.
Harvest Brae Farm continues to evolve year by year, shaped by practical growing, observation and a commitment to building resilience into both the soil and the surrounding landscape.
Visitors are welcome to see the progress for themselves.
