Why It Exists
Plants with Purpose grew from a long-standing interest in gardening, nature and the outdoors.
The nursery was originally established by local growers who built the business around unusual edible plants and ecological gardening. When they decided to retire, the opportunity arose to continue the nursery. Having already been working with them, I was delighted to take on the business and carry it forward.
Working alongside the wider vision of Harvest Brae Farm, Plants with Purpose continues with a focus on edible plants, biodiversity and the creation of resilient, productive gardens.
Growing Approach
Plants are grown and selected with biodiversity in mind, favouring varieties that contribute to healthy garden ecosystems rather than purely ornamental impact.
The nursery prioritises resilience, usefulness and long-term garden value.
What We Grow
Our focus includes:
• Edible perennials and productive plants such as Everlasting onion and Daubenton's kale
• Culinary and useful herbs
• Pollinator-supporting varieties
• Plants selected for ecological value and resilience
• Varieties suited to a wide range of growing conditions
Not all plants are edible. All are selected with long-term ecological value in mind.
